An elderly Australian-British man was found dead on his yacht anchored off Phuket on Sunday.

Police said 70-year-old Graham Tucker's body was found in a bedroom on his yacht, Synergy, moored off Khao Khad beach about noon on Sunday.

It was believed he had died a few days earlier. There were no signs of violence.

He was found by a German friend who told police he and Tucker both lived on their own yachts in the same area. He had not seen Tucker around and had gone to his boat to see if he was okay.

Local vendors said Tucker had lived on his yacht off the beach of Phuket for the last decade and often sailed to Malaysia and back.

The police investigation was continuing.
