A low-cost “love parking” lot in Japan has gone viral online after pictures emerged on social media of the roadside stop, where motorists can rent private space for as little as 1,000 yen (about 200 baht).

Netizens were captivated not only by the low price of the service but also by its location in the mountains and its basic design, consisting of parking bays hidden by blue tarpaulins on bamboo frames.

A sign at the site shows daytime rates at 500 yen for two hours. From 8pm to 10am, visitors can stay all night for a flat rate of 1,000 yen.

The facility, named Love Parking, is located along a roadside in Kumamoto prefecture and can accommodate up to 10 vehicles at a time.

Visitors simply drive into an available bay and pull the curtain shut, creating a private space to pursue whatever moves them.
