A woman who bought crispy fried chicken at a market, intending to share it with her young daughter, was horrified to find the inside meat was crawling with maggots.
Facebook user Nampeun Jittra posted a video on May 24 of her experience stating, “I went to a street market to buy food to eat near Sap Pradu Reservoir. But as I was about to feed my child the fried chicken, I noticed strange white objects in the food.”
Ms Nampeun said she had gone to the reservoir, in Nakhon Ratchasima province, with her young daughter. She bought a piece of fried crispy chicken from a vendor for 50 baht to share with her child.
At first, she did not notice anything wrong with the food but then she examined a piece closer before giving it to the girl.
Only then did she see the numerous small white maggots crawling inside the meat, and the maggot eggs, in every piece. Ms Jittra said she was horrified.
In the caption posted with the photo, she said, “End of my dinner. Honestly, this is the worst thing I’ve ever encountered with food in my life. I just wish the seller had checked the food more carefully. I still don’t even know what to say… I’m still feeling creeped out.”
