By now, everyone knows that Thailand’s Nene Royal can rock, but the fashion sense of the “America’s Got Talent” breakout star is also starting to attract attention.

After her performance of Black Hole Sun earned her a ticket to the final round of the popular US show, the singer-guitarist also known as Rattikarn “Praew” Amloy talked about the costume she wore for her performance.

Created around fabrics from her home province of Phuket, the look was designed, Nene said, to show the world Thailand’s art, culture, family and dreams.

The polyester T-shirt with cut sleeves worn underneath was produced and distributed by her mother.

The vest, from TiTA Style, mixed Thai fabric with leather to show both culture and power. The lining was painted in a Peranakan style, reflecting Phuket’s Chinese heritage.

The standout piece was a golden waist wrap made from Songket Samping, a fabric known for its gold patterning and closely associated with southern Thailand and the Malay peninsula, paired with a Sangwan-style belt.

Those behind the look said the mix of traditional textiles and Nene’s modern fashion demonstrates the versatility of Thai fabric, while carrying Thai identity, craftsmanship and beauty to an international audience.
