Suvarnabhumi Airport will install 122 more automated gates for arriving and departing passengers to reduce waiting times and improve overall efficiency, airport director Kittipong Kittikachorn said.
The additions will bring the total number of automated gates at Thailand's main international gateway to 228, up from the current 106.
The airport is also improving visitor amenities across service areas. Planned improvements include upgraded information counters, renovated restrooms, more than 200 new electronic charging stations and dedicated spaces such as a children's zone, relaxation area, co-working space and digital park seats.
As Suvarnabhumi enters its third decade of operation, Mr Kittipong said, the airport will continue expanding its infrastructure, technology, service standards and security, to strengthen passenger confidence and position Thailand as a global aviation hub.
During the first 11 months of fiscal year 2026, which ends on Sept 30, the airport served 118 scheduled airlines and handled 346,905 flights - a year-on-year increase of 1.83%. Passenger traffic reached 59,626,075, up 2.43% on the same period last year, he said.
