MrBeast has set a new milestone on YouTube, becoming the first creator in the platform’s history to surpass 500 million subscribers.
Real name Jimmy Donaldson, the 28-year-old creator has grown from a teenage YouTuber into a global entertainment powerhouse.
Through his Beast Industries empire, Donaldson has expanded far beyond content creation, launching ventures including the reality competition series Beast Games, Feastables chocolate, Lunchly snack kits, the analytics platform Viewstats and more under his growing portfolio of businesses.
His audience spans multiple generations, although younger viewers make up the largest share. Around 40% of his viewership is aged 13-17 years and 20% 18 to 24.
To commemorate the historic achievement, YouTube presented Donaldson with an unprecedented one-of-a-kind 500 million subscriber Play Button. The custom trophy was personally handed to him by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, who praised the creator's impact on the platform.
“This achievement is a testament to what is possible when a creator has the freedom to follow their creativity and be their authentic self,” Mohan said. “Jimmy, you are an incredible innovator, and we are so proud to be part of your journey.”
The milestone was celebrated during a livestream on June 12 that offered fans a rare glimpse of Donaldson in an unusually understated setting. Instead of the elaborate sets and high-budget spectacles that have become synonymous with MrBeast, the stream featured a simple white backdrop.
During the broadcast, Donaldson revisited some of his earliest videos, chatted with viewers in real time, and reflected on the channel’s remarkable growth. The intimate and nostalgic atmosphere stood in stark contrast to his typically larger-than-life productions, making the celebration feel surprisingly personal despite the record-breaking scale of the achievement.
