A video of a baby's birth in Egypt has gone viral on social media, with viewers amazed at how remarkably relaxed he appeared as a doctor prepared to cut his umbilical cord shortly after delivery.
The boy was born two days ago and under the care of Dr Islam Edleh, a prominent neonatologist based in Cairo, who has millions of followers on social media.
Dr Edleh shared the video himself, showing the newborn lying in an unusually laid-back position as medical staff prepared to cut the cord.
The clip quickly attracted attention, with viewers flooding the comments section with humorous theories about the baby's seemingly carefree attitude.
Some joked that the baby had been born already ready for retirement, having spent nine months observing the world from inside his mother's womb and apparently deciding he had seen enough.
Others imagined that he was a reincarnated soul who had lived through 10 previous lifetimes and had finally reached a point of complete acceptance, choosing to enjoy life rather than worry about anything. Thais also commented that maybe the baby knew it was in Egypt, which is rich in notable ancient history.
Some commenters speculated the child had already established that his family was wealthy and he would not have to struggle through life. Others joked that he would have kicked his feet in an equally relaxed manner if he had already developed the ability to do so.
Another popular theory was that the baby was royalty reincarnated, with commenters welcoming him to the world as a king who had arrived to rule over his own kingdom.
The witty reactions helped propel the video to worldwide viral status, with the clip soon to reach 200 million views on TikTok alone by Sunday.
