Cultural competition / Torito De Pucará / Until Nov 5

The Embassy of Peru in Thailand has launched the “Torito de Pucará: Peru and Thailand United by Art", a cultural project organised to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and Thailand. The initiative showcases the creativity of Thai and Peruvian artists, but also offers an extraordinary opportunity: a raffle of two round-trip tickets to Peru for residents in Thailand. Participants can join the contest by visiting all six Torito de Pucará sculptures being displayed at iconic locations across Bangkok, taking a photo or video with each piece and posting it on social media following the contest rules. Those who complete the circuit will qualify for the raffle, with two lucky winners travelling to Peru. At least one winner must be a Thai national, and both winners must be residents of Thailand. The six Toritos are at Iconsiam, Siam Discovery, Wat Pho, Songwat Road, One Bangkok and MRT Phahon Yothin. The contest ends on Nov 5, with winners announced on Nov 7, through the embassy’s official social media channels. Winners must attend the ceremony on Nov 10 to receive their prize.

New art store / Massimo Dutti 

Massimo Dutti has unveiled a new store at Iconsiam, featuring a fresh interior design concept across a total store size of 413m². A much more refined concept, where artisan materials and techniques dress the space, the furnishings add tone to the different areas, with more organic shapes, more neutral and natural colours from fine materials, creating a purer feel. The store joins the ranks of Massimo Dutti’s emblematic flagship stores turned into cultural spaces with the aim of fusing function with style and art. Bringing in Massimo Dutti’s "ArtInProgress" project to Thailand until Sept 21, the store will be home to an exclusive exhibition featuring the works of PHKA Studio. By blending art, architecture, and nature, PHKA Studio transforms floral tradition into contemporary narratives of memory, culture and unexpected beauty, using unusual materials such as seeds and organic forms that evoke their ephemeral nature.

Flavour crossroads / Cycle by Mauro Colagreco x Côte by Mauro Colagreco / Sept 10

For one day only, two Mauro Colagreco protégés: chef Yuhei Miyamoto of Tokyo’s Cycle by Mauro Colagreco and chef Davide Garavaglia of Côte by Mauro Colagreco will offer a four-hands experience. Flavours of the Riviera meet Japan’s sensory seasonality in an eight-course menu, which showcases the possibilities of seasonal ingredients. "Crossroads Of Flavour" will be held on Sept 10.

Travelling chef / Siri Sala / Sept 12-14

Siri Sala Private Thai Villa's "Travelling Chef Series" returns with "Lanna Journey: Breaking Boundaries", featuring chef Kong Chaiwongkhajorn from Locus Native Food Lab in Chiang Rai. A chef and a certified sommelier. chef Kong will present an exploration of progressive Lanna cuisine from Sept 12-14. The seven-course tasting menu is inspired by the distinct flavors, traditions and cultural identity of the Lanna Kingdom. For three evenings, diners will immerse in the tastes and narratives of the Lanna region. The evenings begin with a sunset boat ride from Si Phraya Pier, followed by a chat with chef Kong and dinner. 

Lunar Eclipse / Banyan Tree Krabi / Sept 7

Visitors to the serene resort of Banyan Tree Krabi can experience the lunar eclipse on Sept 7 while immersing themselves in an evening of reflection, release and renewal. Beginning at 6pm on the beachfront lawn, the hotel’s wellbeing practitioner Dr Subhash Shanbhag will lead a breathwork meditation class, followed by a Tibetan singing bowls class. The climax of the evening will be the appearance of a “blood moon”, a relatively rare phenomenon occurring when the Earth casts its shadow over the Moon, causing it to appear red. Weather permitting, it’s sure to be a memorable sight.

Sunday Brunch / Dusit Thani Bangkok

The Dusit Thani Bangkok has launched the "Dusit Thani Sunday Brunch", a refined new dining experience at Pavilion restaurant. Available every weekend, the three-and-a-half-hour affair embraces the art of slowing down with good food and tipples. From the very first sip of bubbly, diners are immersed in a culinary journey of more than 80 dishes. Highlights include unlimited à-la-carte main courses prepared à la minute, with selections including Wagyu beef (marbling score 6+), Hokkaido scallop and foie gras Rossini, as well as dim sum, steamed to order by the Chinese kitchen team. Many not-to–be-missed delights from the buffet selection include a lobster and premium seafood station, five types of oyster, choices of Thai specialities, live grill and a sushi station. The Dusit Thani Bangkok is the only hotel in the city offering free-flow Dom Pérignon as part of a premium brunch package. A lavish dessert spread, featuring artisanal pastries and a live mango sticky rice station. Sirimahannop is taking diners on a voyage to Portugal with its latest limited-time dish: Peri Peri chicken. Sirimahannop’s Peri Peri chicken features half a boneless free-range chicken, marinated in a secret blend of herbs and spices, and grilled to impart a unique smoky and charred flavour. The chicken is served with roasted root vegetables and will be on the menu till Oct 31.

New highlights / Viu / Until Sept 28

The Signature Sunday Brunch at Viu will offer a new series of monthly highlights. Each month, diners can look forward to dishes built around a featured ingredient, offering a fresh culinary experience alongside a curated selection of live stations and the signature “At The Table” service. Chef Matteo Fontana will be offering dishes like Avocado and crab salad with yuzu dressing; Kani miso with crab meat and ikura; Stir-fried mud crab with weekly sauces such as black pepper, yellow curry and sweet and sour. Pasta lovers can enjoy housemade Tagliolini with crab and lemon, while the main dish is Homemade Yellow curry crab with betel leaf and fermented rice noodle. Further to the new dishes, there is also a seafood tower, premium cold cuts, pass-around pizzas, a selection of all-you-can-indulge main courses on weekly rotation such as Grilled lobster tail and Australian Wagyu beef striploin and a decadent dessert corner. Blue by Alain Ducasse will offer a limited-edition collection of handcrafted mooncakes created by executive pastry chef Christophe Grilo. The mooncakes come in Confit d’Aurore, which is  orange candy; Forêt de Jade or pandan coconut with ginkgo nuts; Cœur de Lotus or lotus paste; and Trinité Noire or chocolate custard vanilla. The limited-edition mooncake is available for pre-order until Oct 6

Mid-Autumn Festival / Pullman Bangkok King Power / From Sept 22

Pullman Bangkok King Power is offering the "Pullman Moon Treasures: Signature Mooncake Collection", featuring Durian with yolk; Lotus with yolk; Mixed nuts with yolk; and Black sesame with yolk. The mooncakes are ready for delivery from Sept 22.

Pagoda Chinese Restaurant at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park will offer a seasonal celebration of Jade Tiger Abalone, with a curated menu of hot and cold dishes. The Jade Tiger Abalone has a stunning green shell with a vibrant tiger stripe. Fed by the cold, nutrient rich waters that sweep northwards from Antarctica, it develops a tender, pearl-like meat. Throughout September and October, chef Oscar Pun presents eight dishes that highlight the abalone’s natural sweetness and delicate texture. The dishes are Drunken abalone with Shaoxing rice wine sauce; Traditional abalone with Shanxi aged vinegar; Double-steamed abalone with Chinese red dates in clear chicken soup; Stir-fried abalone with chilli and onion; Steamed abalone with Hunan chilli sauce; Steamed abalone with Sichuan spicy sauce; Steamed abalone with black bean sauce; and Steamed abalone with garlic and soy sauce.
