Fluffy galaxy awaits at Central Embassy

Open House, the co-living space on level 6 of Central Embassy, has been transformed into a universe of friendship during the "MRKREME: The Fluffy Galaxy" exhibition, which runs until March 1.

Open House kicks off 2026 with a big dose of inspiration through a major collaboration with MRKREME (Warakarn "Andy" Jongthanapipat), a Thai–Hong Kong artist and creator of the beloved character Mushkin. The project is supported by ARTXP, an art community dedicated to sharing artists’ stories through immersive Art + Experience, creating new value and inspiration for society. Together, they transform Open House into a retro 1980s-style galaxy where visitors can go beyond the limits of the real world and step into a vibrant universe of fluffy monsters filled with colour, memories and the power of friendship.

Meet Mushkin, Corkin and friends from Kooky World, reimagined for the very first time in exclusive 8-bit–style illustrations, created especially for this exhibition. Behind the playful and vibrant aesthetic inspired by Pop Surrealism and Lowbrow Art, MRKREME draws on his passion for pop culture, street art and nostalgic childhood toys from the 1980s. He reinterprets these influences to convey emotions that are difficult to put into words. Beneath the surface, the works subtly explore themes of vulnerability and imperfection within the self, qualities the artist believes are not flaws, but essential elements of the creative process. These ideas beautifully reflect the human condition.

A sound station courtesy of legendary turntable brand Thorens will transmit its analogue-inspired atmosphere throughout the exhibition, with leading DJs spinning on weekends from 12:45pm-8pm, inviting "space travellers", aka you, to fully immerse themselves in the galactic vibe.

The journey begins at The Fluffy Wormhole, an interdimensional tunnel located along the linkage walkway from Central Chidlom (Level 2) to Central Embassy. Brought to life with street art and retro colour palettes infused with a cosmic atmosphere, the experience continues across Levels 3–5, where visitors travel alongside the gang of monsters on display through Jan 31.

The journey then culminates at Open House, of course, where a creative playground inspired by Retrofuturism, where sleek sci-fi aesthetics merge seamlessly with the nostalgic spirit of the 1980s. Highlights include monster lightboxes in a wide range of designs, alongside a hidden operations base showcasing a selection of collectables and limited-edition artworks.

Check out a spacecraft docking point atop the Art Tower, highlighted by a giant Mushkin sculpture dressed in a spacesuit, where exclusive licensed merch awaits. Meanwhile, The Step serves as a rest stop for space travellers, complete with charming seating areas designed for relaxation and for soaking in the imaginative world surrounding them.

The fun continues through a series of hands-on activities at The Furry Lab, a workshop space inviting everyone to challenge their creativity by transforming everyday objects into works of art. Activities include Pixel Art Printing, Cookie Painting, Rubber Stamp Printing and Mosaic Craft. The cashapon machines are arriving next month, offering exclusive collectable keychains specially designed for this exhibition. Available in four designs.

Before leaving, visitors can check out Pixel Galaxy Arcade, featuring 8-bit arcade game machines. Art also extends into the digital realm through MRKREME Interactive AR, where visitors can scan a QR code to summon fluffy monster companions into their photos across various spots throughout Central Embassy.

In addition, the experience is expanded through special collaborative menus from Albero, Smizzle, Honeyful Café and Dean & DeLuca
