All barked out

Re: "Dogged logic", (PostBag, May 12) & "Oh, for a quiet street", (PostBag, May 11).

I side with the letter titled "Dogged Logic," which reflects the dilemma of putting up with men's best friends and hoping -- or just wishfully thinking -- that the new city's pet laws will tame the disarray that pets and their owners cause.

Alas, as guest residents, we are obliged to tolerate the noise. It is a balancing act for where we choose and are accepted to live -- part of the Land of Smiles' package, if you will. Yes, it annoys me (understatement). Hang in, mate. Music and headphones assist. Oh, man's best friend is true to me. Control the issue.

Jabs raise red flags

Re: "Covid alert as 6 die last week", (BP, May 13) & "Jab-linked blood clots 'super rare'", (World, May 3, 2024).

In Thailand, the effectively mandatory vaccination schedule for infants aged 0–18 months is part of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) from the Ministry of Public Health. The vaccines are free at public health facilities, allowing Thailand to achieve a 96-99% vaccination rate. From birth until the age of 1.5 years, as many as 16 vaccines and 30 doses are administered to our most vulnerable population.

The Ministry of Public Health continues to recommend an m-RNA based Covid-19 vaccination schedule for children beginning at 6 months. Their universal admonition that parents should monitor their child for post-vaccination reactions and remain at the facility for 30 minutes after shots reveals the risks involved are real, and the Ministry of Health knows about them.

Both influenza and Covid vaccines have been shown to have negative effectiveness in protecting against disease or reducing the severity of symptoms. Most concerning is current research indicating that the m-RNA based Covid vaccines might be incorporated into our genes, including spermatozoa. It should stop now.

Grin and growl

I recently watched and very much enjoyed a rerun of the animated movie Ice Age on True Visions. One of the animal characters was a devious Smilodon gracilis (the first sabre-toothed tiger). Having lived in "The Land of Smiles" for a long time, the analogy was immediate, but I wondered if this now extinct big cat could have managed the numerous Thai variables of this particular ability, although the cunning one was well manifested by Diego.

Trade whims reign

Re: "Vietnam workers live in fear of US tariffs", (Business, May 6).

The article discussing concerns about Trump tariffs is interesting, but the problem is wider than just Vietnam. All countries, except strangely Russia, but including the McDonald islands, only populated by penguins, face tariffs, or might in 90 days, who really knows?

The article title could label them Trump tariffs, not US tariffs.

There is a difficulty reporting on these matters when they change randomly and usually without a valid reason, but keep up the good work.
