Asia awaits leadership

Re: "Cabinet backs new labour protections" (BP, Aug 19), "Asean's hidden human crisis", (Opinion, July 26) and "Work stress needs more attention" (Opinion, April 28).

The lack of an International Labour Organization (ILO) director-general (DG) from the Asia-Pacific region in its 107-year history, despite the region representing 60% of the global workforce, remains a point of significant geopolitical and institutional debate.
