Train services in Bangkok will be extended by an extra two hours on New Year’s Eve, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) said on Tuesday.

Trains on the Purple, Blue, Yellow and Pink lines would run until 2am on Jan 1, so people who attended New Year countdown celebrations can return home easily, the MRTA said. The last train will leave each line's departure and terminal stations at 2am.

Media outlets reported that the Green, Gold, Red and Airport Rail Link lines would also run for an extra two hours. Passengers can check with their information counters.

Service hours at park-and-ride facilities near train stations, which typically open at 5am daily, will also be extended. The facilities will stay open for 24 hours along the Purple, Blue and Orange (Thailand Cultural Centre-Min Buri section) lines.

Along the Green Line, they will stay open until 3am on Jan 1.

Parking at Si Iam station on the Yellow Line will stay open until 1am, and until 2am at Min Buri station on the Pink Line, both free of charge.
