Ang Thong provincial energy chief Kongkiat Kittikhun yesterday filed a police report after a fuel company failed to submit a delivery document for fuel it had transported to a local depot.
According to Mr Kongkiat, V.A. Oil Co Ltd allegedly failed to issue an oil transport document to Trillion Petro Trading Co Ltd, an oil depot in the province.
An investigation was launched by the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) last Thursday.
Based on the evidence gathered by the CPPD, V.A. Oil purchased fuel from IRPC storage facilities on seven occasions. The oil was required to be delivered to the company's premises in Bangkok or other destinations as specified in the transport document.
However, investigators found that the fuel had instead been delivered to the Ang Thong depot.
Mr Kongkiat said this may constitute a violation of Section 30 of the Fuel Trade Act 2000, punishable under Section 56 by up to one year in prison, a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.
He said additional documents have been requested from the Ang Thong depot, with a deadline set for yesterday. Failure to provide them would lead to further legal action.
Meanwhile, Pol Maj Gen Sophon Sarapat, deputy chief of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), said investigators have summoned the depot operator to present relevant documents and clarify the fuel's origin and batch. However, the operator was unable to produce them and claimed only that the fuel had been legally purchased.
Fuel samples have also been collected for quality testing to ensure compliance with legal standards. Additional charges may follow if irregularities are found.
Authorities were awaiting input from the Commerce and Energy ministries to determine whether the case involves stockpiling or price manipulation.
