Thai Airways International reminds passengers of a new regulation that permits each passenger to carry up to two power banks with no permission to use or charge them on board.
Thai said on a social media post on Thursday that the limit of the number of power banks and a ban on using or charging them during flights has been in effect since March 27 in line with safety regulations announced by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
"Following the improvements agreed today [March 27], these devices will now be limited to two per passenger and passengers will be prohibited from recharging them during flights," the aviation regulating agency said on March 27. Air crews are allowed to carry and use them, the ICAO added.
The new rules caught air travellers off guard at Hong Kong International Airport as some complained about insufficient signs to inform them about the change.
