PHUKET - A speedboat caught fire on Monday while docking at a pier, injuring five people.

 

Adub Raluekmoon, director of the Phuket Marine Office, said the fire destroyed the boat at Coco pier in Makham bay in Muang district about 11am.

It was towed away from the jetty and a fireboat quickly extinguished the blaze.

Mr Adul said five people were injured and were taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment. Their personal details were still being collated and would be released later, along with other details.

Phuket Tourist Police said no tourists were among the injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
