Defence Minister Lt Gen Adul Boonthamcharoen insisted the Thai-Cambodian border situation remains under control, with no indication of a third round of clashes, while urging tourists to visit attractions in the area.
He made the remarks while chairing a local event to restore confidence among locals in Kantharalak district of Si Sa Ket. The event was also aimed at honouring soldiers involved in the two previous clashes.
Lt Gen Adul said the government wants to reassure the public, businesses and investors that the military and state agencies are fully prepared to protect national sovereignty.
Residents can continue their daily lives as normal, while troops stationed in the area are capable of defending the country if conflict arises, he said.
The minister also encouraged tourists to visit Kantharalak district, highlighting natural attractions such as Pha Mor E Daeng, Khao Sattasom and the Sam Ta mountain range.
He noted that troops successfully regained control of Phu Makua during previous fighting.
Asked about concerns along the border, he said there was no cause for alarm, as authorities had secured all areas following the earlier clashes.
He said there were no warning signs of renewed conflict, but officials remain vigilant and ready to issue timely alerts if needed.
