Ex-boxing champion faces drug case

Chon Buri: Former boxing world champion Amnat Ruenroeng was taken to court in Sri Racha district yesterday after authorities found illegal drugs in his system.

Police escorted Mr Amnat, a former Thai national amateur boxer and former International Boxing Federation flyweight world champion, to court for pre-trial detention.

The case drew widespread public attention after family members posted video clips online allegedly showing the former champion using drugs and behaving erratically late at night.

The footage circulated widely on social media and sparked public concern. Authorities later arrested Mr Amnat on May 18 in the Khao Taeng On community in tambon Surasak, Sri Racha district. Officials conducted a drug test on Mr Amnat, which came back positive.
