Dogs and cats displaced by severe flooding in Bangkok can now receive temporary shelter, health assessments and medical care at the Prawet Animal Shelter, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) announced on Wednesday.
The rescue and care operation is a joint initiative involving local district offices, Bangkok-based animal-welfare foundations, rescue networks and veterinarians from the Department of Livestock Development.
The operation is already underway, with six-wheeled trucks transporting 23 animals evacuated from inundated areas in Khan Na Yao, Bang Kapi and Prawet districts.

The service is available for both owned pets and strays with verified local caretakers, ensuring they can be returned to their original locations once the floodwaters recede and conditions return to normal.
To register a pet for temporary boarding, owners and caretakers must submit a written request and a copy of their government-issued ID through their local district office, partner foundations or related networks.
