Thailand Hosts 21st Exotic Plants Show, Boosting Global Ties with Taiwan

BANGKOK – The 21st Bangkok International Exotic Plants Show & Sale, “Blossom,”  has officially opened its second edition of 2026, taking place from June 12 to 14, 2026, at Chaeng Watthana Hall, Central Chaeng Watthana, Bangkok, under the theme “Rare and Exotic.” The event serves as a global platform connecting entrepreneurs, collectors, industry experts and buyers worldwide, aiming to drive the growth of the tropical plant industry.

A key highlight of the 21st edition of the event is the participation of the Mayor of Taoyuan City, Taiwan, who led a delegation of agricultural experts to exchange knowledge and explore future collaboration opportunities.

The event also features its first-ever international ornamental plant competition, reinforcing Thailand’s position as a global hub for exotic and rare plants.

Chang San-cheng (Simon), Mayor of Taoyuan City, ROC (Taiwan), stated that Thailand is a global trendsetter in the ornamental plant industry and possesses a rich agricultural heritage. This aligns closely with Taoyuan’s vision as a leading logistics and plant export hub as it advances digital transformation and promotes smart agriculture branding.

Speaking on future cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand, Mayor Chang expressed confidence that exchanges between Taoyuan and Bangkok would create synergies where “one plus one is greater than two,” unlocking new opportunities in the rapidly growing global green plant market.

Thanthita Boonyamanikul, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, said that the 21st consecutive edition of the event reflects the strong potential of Thailand’s ornamental plant industry, particularly in the collector plant and exotic–rare plant segments, where Thailand is considered a leading player in both the regional and global markets.

Sappasiri Chaovanich, Show Director of the Bangkok International Exotic Plants Show & Sale, said the 21st edition of the event has attracted over 150 exhibitors from countries including Thailand, the United States, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, China, Taiwan and Japan. Meanwhile, Europe, the US and Russia remain key markets for demand for rare ornamental plants.

A key highlight of the 21st edition is the plant competition, featuring five distinct categories: Philodendron, Monstera, Anthurium, Alocasia and Terrarium. Renowned influencers will serve as judges, evaluating entries based on rarity, overall health, exceptional form and unprecedented novelty.

In terms of business promotion, the event serves as a matchmaking platform, especially for new entrepreneurs. Sappasiri noted that Anthurium, Monstera and Alocasia remain highly popular. This edition also connects Thai and international stakeholders to strengthen business networks and elevate Thailand’s ornamental plant industry internationally, while paving the way for the 22nd edition, scheduled for Aug 14 to 16 at Chaeng Watthana Hall, Central Chaeng Watthana. The event will focus on terrarium and indoor plants.
