The National Vaccine Institute (NVI) organised the 12th National Vaccine Conference to promote and strengthen the capabilities of the country's vaccine workforce, while fostering networks and collaboration at both individual and organisational levels.
The conference also provided an important platform for connecting with experts from Thailand and overseas in vaccine research and development, manufacturing, quality control, regulation and immunisation through keynote presentations and panel discussions.
Convened during Sept 14-16, 2026, at the Asawin Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok, the 12th National Vaccine Conference was held under the theme “Beyond Vaccine Development: Impact in a Changing World”.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony and presented certificates to two recipients of the Vaccine Benefactor Awards. The award for policy development, knowledge, management and vaccine services was presented to Associate Professor (Honour) Dr Tawee Chotpitayasunondh, an expert at the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health. The award for vaccine research and development leading to manufacturing was presented to Global Biotech Products Co Ltd.
Her Royal Highness also presented certificates to two recipients of the Outstanding Oral Presentation Awards, namely Bunpote Siridechadilok and Worrawich Boonyathisathan, and delivered a royal address opening the conference, part of which stated:
“Vaccines are an important factor in preventing and controlling epidemics, particularly in preventing and controlling the spread of communicable diseases. They help reduce the severity of symptoms when people become infected, as well as morbidity and mortality during outbreaks.

“Lessons from past outbreaks, including Covid-19, influenza and avian influenza, have clearly demonstrated the crucial role of vaccines in disease prevention and control. It is therefore necessary to ensure that people in all regions have equitable and adequate access to quality vaccines, both under normal circumstances and during emergencies.
“The National Vaccine Institute plays an important role in driving policy and supporting vaccine research, development and manufacturing to achieve the country's goal of vaccine self-reliance. This is part of carrying forward the royal aspiration of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who wished for Thai people to enjoy good health and for the country to be capable of producing essential medicines, medical supplies and vaccines domestically. This would help reduce reliance on imports, save public funds and sustainably strengthen the country's public health security.”
Among those attending the ceremony were H.E. Mr.Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Vaccine Committee; H.E.Mr.Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health; the permanent secretary for public health; executives from the Ministry of Public Health and the National Vaccine Institute; representatives of public- and private-sector vaccine networks; recipients of the 2026 Vaccine Benefactor Awards; and recipients of the Outstanding Oral Presentation Awards.
Over the three-day conference, participants shared knowledge and the latest developments in vaccine-related research, policy and operational directions, covering research and development, manufacturing, quality assurance and control and immunisation management. The event also provided a platform for public- and private-sector organisations and domestic and international partners to exchange knowledge and experience through presentations and panel discussions.
The conference also featured a central exhibition by the National Vaccine Institute under a concept reflecting Thailand's vaccine development journey, from the foundations of the country's vaccine ecosystem to future innovations and technologies, as well as the impact delivered to the public.
The exhibition was divided into three key sections:
Where We Are: Policy & Vaccine Ecosystem presented an overview of the policies, mechanisms and collaboration among organisations driving Thailand's vaccine ecosystem.
What's Next: Future Vaccine Technology showcased development directions, technologies and vaccine innovations that will play an important role in strengthening the country's capabilities in the future.
What to Do: Impact to People highlighted the outcomes of vaccine-related initiatives aimed at delivering benefits to the public, while strengthening national vaccine security and self-reliance.

A separate vaccine-network exhibition presented an overview of the work of organisations within Thailand's vaccine ecosystem, alongside products, technologies and innovations developed by private-sector organisations. The exhibition reflected the collective efforts of stakeholders to advance Thailand towards sustainable vaccine security.
The 12th National Vaccine Conference served as another important platform for connecting knowledge, research, innovation, technology and experience from all sectors to strengthen Thailand's vaccine ecosystem and enhance its ability to respond to evolving health challenges.
The conference focused on taking vaccine development beyond the development of products, towards the practical application of knowledge and innovation to deliver tangible outcomes for the public and strengthen the country's long-term vaccine security and self-reliance.
