Royal barge formation revised for fifth rehearsal

The fifth rehearsal of the royal barge procession on Sept 8, 2026, featured a revised formation, with the Anekkachatphuchong royal barge following the Suphannahong, instead of the Narai Song Suban HM Rama IX as in previous drills.

The change was made to simulate a scenario in which the Anekkachatphuchong serves as a secondary royal barge for members of the royal family, while the Narai Song Suban HM Rama IX acts as a reserve vessel.

Held during an incoming tide, the rehearsal proceeded at a slower pace and took just over an hour.

The royal barge procession is scheduled to take place on Nov 6, 2026, as part of a royal ceremony in which His Majesty the King will travel to Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan , also known as the Temple of Dawn, to perform the royal merit-making ceremony and present the royal Kathin robes.
