Ballet kicks off Korea Season 2026

The Korean Cultural Center presents GAT, a creative ballet, at Siam Pic-Ganesha Theatre, 7th floor of Siam Square One, Rama I Road, on Saturday at 6pm.

This is the official launch of Korea Season 2026, a flagship cultural diplomacy initiative by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange.

The project is designed to showcase specially curated performances, exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year, with the aim to spotlight the diverse charms of Korean culture and build a sustainable foundation for mutual exchange between Korea and Thailand. This year, the programme holds special significance as it commemorates the relocation and reopening of the Korean Cultural Center. After 13 years in Asok, the KCC will move to Thong Lor area in July and officially reopen its doors in October.

The ballet production takes the Gat (a traditional Korean hat) as its primary motif, reinterpreting Korean aesthetics through the language of Western ballet.

The performance explores the forms and symbolism of various traditional hats, translating them into fluid bodily movements. It is a captivating show that brings to life distinct Korean sentiments and feminine elegance on stage.

The programme will also feature the K-Live Festival in October and the "Media Art Exhibition" featuring traditional Korean motifs from October to January next year.

There is no admission fee. For reservations, visit forms.gle/B7fz5BmXHTA9ws3u7.
