Saw it in a movie
Re: "China's next-gen sexbots powered by AI to hit the shelves", (Life, June 18).
This article indicates another way in which AI is being abused. The Blade Runner narrative is now unfolding. Gad. What next? Soylent Green? Does anyone remember the great actor Edward G Robinson's last film? It was most alarmingly prophetic way back in 1973. Here are the opening words from the Wikipedia plot description:
"By 2022, the cumulative effects of overpopulation, global warming, and pollution have caused ecocide, leading to severe worldwide shortages of food, water and housing, bringing human civilisation to the brink of collapse."
Ring any bells?

Re: "Alternative history", (PostBag, June 21).
As a proud Czech, I wish to correct the convoluted historical interpretation of the fate of the Sudetenland Germans, Hitler's sainthood and David Irwing's role in it.
The so-called Sudetenland was from time immemorial part of Czech lands. As it was a sparsely populated mountainous region, the Czech king Premysl Otakar I (1155–1230 AD) invited the Germans to populate it. He and all the subsequent Czech kings gave the Germans many privileges to establish businesses, and even towns. They did a splendid job of it, sure. They made it a prosperous region and they grew rich out of it. I was born in Sudetenland and lived there all my young life. My family lives there still.
Under the post-WWI Czechoslovak governments, which at that time were some of the most democratic in the world, the Sudetenland Germans flourished like never before. They had their own administration in towns and cities, German schools and universities and from 1920 had representatives in the parliament and from 1926, even ministers in the Czechoslovak government.
However, they did not appreciate this good life and turned against the Czechs by demanding to be part of Germany. Wow! What a stab in the backs of the hospitable Czechs!!
As for the "saint Adolf Hitler", I recommend to HHB that he does not read too much of David Irving, the most prominent Holocaust denier in the world, but reads and listens to the rabid speeches made by Hitler before and after he became the German chancellor.
That monster was going to eliminate all Slavs after he finished the Jews. If he won I would not be writing this letter!!

Disturbing take
Re: "Alternative history", (PostBag, June 21).
Your anonymous correspondent 'HHB' needs to work on his or her history.
Hitler was elected Chancellor in 1933; Churchill did not become prime minister until May 1940. Thus HHB shows his/her woeful ignorance in claiming that "Hitler called for disarmament but all of his offers were rejected by Winston Churchill, right to the night before Germany decided to free the suppressed Germans in Poland".
It is also ironic to see HHB ascribe the quote "the victor writes history" to loony tunes French "comedian" M'bala M'bala -- a convicted anti-Semite and Holocaust denier -- as this aphorism is commonly attributed to none other than Winston Churchill.
On a broader note, it is disappointing to see the Bangkok Post printing such ill-informed drivel.
