SURAT THANI - Fuel trader PC Siam Petroleum has denied the government’s accusation that it hoarded fuel.

The company's general-manager, Lt Col Chamnong Wibulsin, told reporters on Monday that PC Siam did not hoard 2 million litres of diesel, as earlier alleged and widely reported.

“In fact, the stock is petrol, which the company normally keeps for sale to its customers. We properly record our sales and do not hoard fuel,” he said.

According to Lt Col Chamnong, provincial authorities checked the fuel stock held by the company from March 27 to 29, and central authorities rechecked the stored supply on April 1. They found no evidence of hoarding or any wrongdoing, he said.

He acknowledged media reports that the government filed a complaint against his company. He said the company did not receive any call from authorities regarding the matter. PC Siam would fully cooperate with any investigation.

Lt Col Chamnong said his company had records of all sales in February and March and could produce them. In March the company had only six deliveries of fuel.

“We are a small local company and have customers only in the upper South,” he said.

According to financial websites, the company owns four oil depots and about 30 service stations and is involved in energy, logistics and real estate. It is based in Surat Thani.
