CHON BURI - An oil tanker that was earlier stranded in the Strait of Hormuz has successfully completed its journey to Chon Buri, delivering its cargo of crude oil to Bangchak Corporation.
The petroleum conglomerate said on Wednesday that the tanker arrived at its Bangchak Sriracha Refinery port Tuesday night with about 700,000 barrels of crude from the Middle East.
Transport and delivery to Bangchak Sriracha Refinery and Bangchak Phra Khanong Refinery are continuing as planned and present crude oil inventories are sufficient for about two months of production, according to the company.
The Pola tanker had been stranded near the Strait of Hormuz since March 11 due to the military conflict in the Middle East. It passed through the strait safely on March 24.
Meanwhile, the Royal Gazette on Wednesday published an order by the government’s Energy Policy Administration Committee to cut the ex-refinery price for all kinds of high speed diesel by two baht per litre on Thursday.
The committee, chaired by newly appointed Energy Minister Akanat Promphan, reached the resolution on Tuesday.
In light of the reduction in the ex-refinery price, officials concerned have indicated an expectation for diesel prices to drop by at least 2.14 baht per litre. On Wednesday prices were 50.54 baht per litre for high speed diesel, 45.54 baht per litre for B20 diesel and 70.44 baht per litre for B7 premium diesel.
