Re: "Pro-military party takes Yangon seat", (World, Jan 13).
Thanks to the Bangkok Post for mentioning Aung San Suu Kyi as the Burmese junta goes through what it calls an election.
How can this woman be cut off from all contact with the world and be held in solitary confinement for three years at her age as her health declines?
The civil war continues as her incarceration continues. Are we seeing a connection?
If the Philippines wants to have a successful Asean chair, it needs to begin by pressing for her immediate release with the junta and with Beijing.
If Thailand wants less arsenic in its rivers, less smoke over the skies of Chiang Mai, and less ya ba coming over the border, she's the one person who can turn Burma back into a country.

Re: "Anutin axes ITD contracts", (BP, Jan 16), and "Deadly Developments", (Graphic, Jan 17).
It was with genuine horror that I studied your front page graphic "Deadly Developments" and realised that, as far as industrial safety goes, there is a serial offender that has been allowed to operate in Thailand for far too long.
Italian-Thai Development PLC Ltd has been involved in nine industrial disasters since April 2017 that have taken the lives of about 170 people, the latest being the 32 deaths at the Thai-Chinese high-speed rail disaster and the two deaths at the M82 elevated road project.
Yet it took these last two before Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul acted and terminated contracts with this company.
Why did it take so long, and why wasn't the whistle blown years ago when it became obvious that this company has serious industrial safety problems?

Re: "Brutal e-commerce war forces NocNoc to close", (Business, Jan 10).
Not too long ago, I purchased an item from Lazada. The item was delivered in a timely manner, but was misrepresented by the vendor (pretty standard for Lazada and Shopee, in my experience).
I asked for and received a return and sent the item back, and that's where the fun starts. The refund amount was placed in my "Wallet", which I cannot access as I am a "farang". For weeks, I have tried to take selfies, scan documents and send emails, all to no avail. I am still out of the money weeks later.
Fast forward to TEMU. I mistakenly ordered two T-shirts in the wrong size. I asked for and received a return, but was unable to locate a drop off for the delivery carrier.
TEMU was kind enough to credit my account without even returning the items, and even offered an apology for something that was my fault. I find their tracking system amazing, as I am informed every step of the way. Delivery dates are always met, and products are as specified.
And people wonder why Thai e-commerce sites are always complaining about being unfairly picked upon. Thai e-commerce sites should ask why they are suffering from shopping slowdowns and customer retreats.
